A Brief History
Lebanon’s most serious problems stem directly from the devastation left by civil war; many hazardous materials were dumped and water and sewerage systems were damaged; emergency medicines and the treatment of injuries overwhelmed the health care sector and respiratory infections and diarrheal diseases were endemic.
Lebanon's lack of raw materials for industry and its complete dependency on Arab countries for oil has made it difficult for the Lebanese to engage in significant industrial activity. Many Lebanese live in conditions of poverty and many suffer from malnutrition and water shortages, especially children and Lebanese refugees.
The Muslim Aid Field Office in Lebanon
The registration for the Lebanon office is still in process. In the meantime, our small team delivered two emergency programmes – the first in response to the Cold Wave in January 2008 providing fuel to 260 families and the second by providing water tanks in Nahr al-Bared camp to Palestinian refugees in North Lebanon.
