29 September 2008
Assalamualaikum wa Rahmatullah and EID MUBARAK!
Assalamualaikum wa Rahmatullah
Salaam and wish you a Happy and Eid Mubarak to you all - this year and year after year.
EID MUBARAK, from our beneficiaries and all of us in the Muslim Aid family.
"We pray for an Eid of reflection and resolution, concern and compassion, service and dedication and a renewed determination to face the challenges of 'dunya' with dignity and Imaan- Ameen", said Sir Iqbal Sacranie, Chair of Muslim Aid.
Thank you once again for helping us make this Ramadan and Eid a special one for thousands across the world. We could not have done it without you!
We pray that Allah accepts our prayers and our sacrifice and gives us the opportunity to continue working for a more just, peaceful and compassionate world.
PS: If you haven't already done so, you have few hours before Eid to pay your Zakat (in Ramadan), give your Zakat-ul-Fitr or send an Eid Gift.
Thanks to your generosity and support we have so far managed to raise over £2 million this Ramadan, Alhamdulillah, meaning those people facing the devastating effects of earthquakes, drought, famine and conflict across the world will have food, medicine, shelter and warm clothing that Muslim Aid can provide them.

Over the blessed month of Ramadan Muslim Aid has been working determinedly to raise awareness about the current global food crisis. In partnership with Oxfam, Muslim Aid organised the first ever 'Sunset Walk'. People from different backgrounds and ages all joined in celebration of the most spiritual month in the Islamic calendar. The event was held to raise money for our food and nutrition projects across the world and to show solidarity in the fight against the global food crisis. Thanks to our partners, Oxfam, and all those who participated, the event was an incredible success and we hope to get an even bigger turnout again next year, Inshallah.

Muslim Aid Sri Lanka also held a 'Walk 2 Feed' event, supported by the Consortium of Humanitarian Agencies (CHA), the World Health Organisation, AmeriCares, and the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), which was aimed at raising awareness of the current food crisis in Sri Lanka.
In partnership with the Department for International Development, Muslim Aid organised an ‘End Poverty Fast’ Iftar dinner, hosted by International Development Minister, Shahid Malik, in East London. The event saw the Muslim community show full support for the work we are doing to fulfill the first Millennium Development Goal (MDG) – to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger.
Muslim Aid Chair, Sir Iqbal Sacranie, CEO, Saif Ahmad and the Chair of the Muslim Council of Britain Interfaith Committee; Shaykh Ibrahim Mogra joined other faith leaders in a march organised to demand the end to global poverty. The march was organised by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, who led Anglican leaders from across the world and other UK faith groups in a march to remind world political leaders to keep their promises on aid and development.
Muslim Aid's Fundraising Manager, Abdul Jolil has been talking to the radio listeners of Muslim Community Radio (MCR) and Radio Ramadan, about the difference your generous donations, during Ramadan, can make to those in the developing world. The Muslim Aid team also hosted a number of live appeals on Islam Channel and Channel S.
During the holy month of mercy, it is our opportunity, our duty, to help our brothers and sisters who are suffering. During this important time we can help ease the pain of others and ensure that those less fortunate can still share the joy of Ramadan. Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can all help End Poverty. Fast.
Jazakallah Khair
