Muslim Aid held a fundraising dinner for the flood affected people of Pakistan on 5 August 2010, at the TKC restaurant in Southall, London. The dinner, sponsored by TKC, was part of a number of fundraising initiatives held this month to support Muslim Aid’s £2 million emergency appeal for Pakistan. The BBC’s One Show was there to cover the event. A number of guests from the local community and businesses showed their support in what turned out to be a successful evening with donations raised in excess of £25,000.
Speaking about the event, Muslim Aid’s Assistant Chief Executive Officer, Hamid Azad said: “The spirit of generosity and compassion of the British public for humanitarian crises across the world is truly inspiring. We want to thank everyone for their continued support for Pakistan. The money raised will go a long way in providing emergency relief to families who have been made homeless, with no access to food and water.”
The evening ended with an auction of items belonging to the Pakistan Cricket team.
Muslim Aid wishes to thank its sponsors Saracens Solicitors and Evoca Cola for their indispensible support.
