Over 600 guests attended Muslim Aid’s 25th Anniversary event at the Natural History Museum in London on 24th March 2010. Speeches were given by Northern Ireland Secretary, Shaun Woodward MP; Shadow International Development Secretary, Andrew Mitchell MP; Shadow Foreign Secretary Edward Davey, MP and Sir Iqbal Sacranie, Chairman of Muslim Aid.
Government Minister the Rt. Hon. Sadiq Khan MP, Minster of State for Transport also delivered a speech and was joined by distinguished guests from the media, diplomatic community, political, development and community organisations.

Sir Iqbal Sacranie, Muslim Aid Chairman addressed over 600 distinguished guests. In an inspirational speech he spoke about the past, present and future of Muslim Aid. He reflected upon all that the organisation has achieved, becoming one of the UK’s largest Muslim international relief and development organisations working in more than 70 countries across the world.

Andrew Mitchell, Shadow International Development Secretary delivered a speech praising Muslim Aid’s emergency relief work undertaken in Haiti and also shelter and reconstruction work following the South Asian Tsunami in 2004.
Edward Davey MP, Liberal Democrat Spokesman for Foreign Affairs
Liberal Democrat Spokesman for Foreign Affairs Edward Davey delivered a speech delivering a message of greetings and congratulations from the Rt. Hon. Nick Clegg MP, and the Liberal Democrats. He spoke about the significance of water in development work and paid tribute to Muslim Aid’s work in delivering water projects across the world.

The Rt. Hon. Sadiq Khan MP, Minster of State for Transport, delivered a speech offering his thoughts on the work of Muslim Aid. He spoke of his great appreciation for the work Muslim Aid has done in the last 25 years and felt the charity’s work was summed up in the Hadith of the Prophet (SAW) wherein he said “...Show mercy to the dwellers of the earth, then the One who dwells in the heavens (Allah) will show mercy to you.”

Bega Karadza
Bega Karadza is a beneficiary of the Rainbow Family Child Support Programme. Bega was invited to the 25th Anniversary event and spoke about how the sponsorship support she has received from Muslim Aid has allowed her to realise her dream of becoming a doctor. Bega is now a first year medical student in Bosnia.

Syed Sharfuddin, CEO of Muslim Aid delivered a vote of thanks paying tribute to the hard work of everyone involved in organising the landmark event. He also expressed his hope to expand Muslim Aid’s work in the UK, in particular in the areas of youth development, community cohesion, understanding and promoting education.
Staff member Sr Zeb Kasmani
During the event, staff member Sr Zeb Kasmani received a ‘Dedication and Long Term Service Award’ for her many years of dedicated service at Muslim Aid. Surprised and speechless, Zeb was presented the award by Councillor Corolyn Keen, Deputy Lord Mayor of Westminster.
