Secretary of State, Ministers, members of the Shadow Cabinet, my Lords and Ladies, your Excellencies, Parliamentarians, distinguished guests, friends and respected colleagues, As-salamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu and good evening to you all.
At the outset, let me express my gratitude to our Creator, Almighty Allah, for His unbounded Kindness and Compassion and for sending us His final Prophet, that Mercy to humankind, Muhammad, may God’s blessings be upon him.
On behalf of all our Trustees, it is a great honour to be welcoming you here this evening to mark the 25th Anniversary of Muslim Aid.
This event gives us an opportunity to pause, for just a brief moment, to reflect on some of what we have together achieved over that period of time. It also gives us an opportunity to hopefully look forward to what we may yet achieve over the next 25 years, insha’ Allah.
Shaun Woodward MP, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland

It’s a huge privilege and honour to follow Sir Iqbal. The Prime Minster had wanted very, very much to be here this evening. It has been, you might have noticed, quite a busy day for the Prime Minister; a budget to take care of, but he had kept this part of the day free because he very much wanted to be with you.
Sadiq Khan MP, Minister of State for Transport

Brothers, sisters, respected elders. I begin with a greeting of peace; assalamu alaykum. I am the twelfth speaker you’ve had this evening, so everything that could have been said, has been said. But, not by everybody that could have said it. I am also the one thing standing between your Kulfi and your Gajar Halwa, and I apologise for that.
Edward Davey MP, Liberal Democrat Spokesman for Foreign Affairs
Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, I bring the best greetings from Nick Clegg and the Liberal Democrats. We want to congratulate you on the fantastic achievements of Muslim aid over the last 25 years and also salute you for the work you are going to do over the next 25 years, and many more years to come. I would like to pay special tribute to Sir Iqbal Sacranie and the Trustees who do so much work behind the scenes. I want to thank you for the work you have done to make this organization special in the way it goes about helping people around the world.
