Daroon Charity races from Banglatown to Bangladesh in 26 Days

02 December 2008

The Daroon Charity Road Run Team successfully completed their road run challenge to drive from London to Dhaka within five weeks to raise funds for the survivors of Cyclone Sidr which hit Bangladesh on the 15th November 2007. The Team hope to raise enough funds to help international relief agency, Muslim Aid, to build at least 10 new homes in the cyclone affected areas

The team began their journey at the heart of the Bangladeshi community in Brick Lane, London on October 16th 2008 and travelled across Europe and then through Turkey, Iran, Pakistan and India finally arriving in Bangladesh on the 25th November in a fourteen year old Toyota jeep.

The team will now concentrate on a series of events visiting cyclone affected areas including Bagerhat, Barisal and Patuakhali. On 3rd December a press conference will be held in Sylhet to raise publicity and extra funds.

“It’s been tough in certain places but it has been an extremely rewarding experience. We would like to thank The Almighty, our families and supporters. We are also grateful to our sponsors including Muslim Aid and also MedEco, Travel Link, MDUK, FairKey and IceHotMedia” said the team.
