Youth are Key Players in Development: Muslim Aid’s Message on International Youth Day

13 August 2010

On the International Youth Day on 12 August 2010, Muslim Aid recognises the valuable role the youth play in contributing toward development and peace. Muslim Aid is committed to this year’s theme: 'Dialogue and Mutual Understanding' by engaging young people through a number of its key programmes across different countries. From its mobile education project in Bosnia to the Rainbow Family sponsorship programme running in 53 countries, Muslim Aid is at the forefront of empowering the youth as key players in development.

A Spokesperson for Muslim Aid said:  “International Youth Day is an opportunity to spread awareness about the challenges faced among the youth. Almost 87% of the world’s youth come from developing countries where we work. Muslim Aid is investing in young people. Our Pathways to Citizenship Programme in the UK is an example of how local Government and community based organisations can encourage the youth to become active and responsible citizens.”
