Muslim Aid Commemorates World Humanitarian Day

19 August 2010

On World Humanitarian Day, on 19 August 2010, Muslim Aid paid tribute to the thousands of men and women who work in places affected by natural disasters, conflict and humanitarian crisis to save human lives and champion humanitarian causes. The Charity also specially honoured the commitment and sacrifice of all those who have lost their lives serving humanity.

Muslim Aid is dedicated to this year’s theme which focuses on the achievements of humanitarian NGOs.  A Spokesperson for Muslim Aid said: “We value the determination of thousands of field officers from many organisations who always show resolve when working in difficult and challenging environments. World Humanitarian Day gives us an opportunity to celebrate the courage and conviction of the international humanitarian community, who work to establish justice, peace and tranquillity and bring relief to distressed and helpless people around the globe.”

Muslim Aid has worked in over 70 countries and has 13 field offices across Asia, Africa and Europe. Muslim Aid is currently implementing relief and development programmes in many fragile states and conflict affected countries.
