Winter Campaign - "people still care"

18 January 2013

Fatima laughs with Aileen at Toynbee Hall

Muslim Aid paid a visit to Toynbee Hall, East London, earlier this week to meet members of their Older People’s Services, and to distribute Keep Warm Kits as part of the Warm Hearts Winter Campaign for 2012/13.

Delivering items such as heaters, socks, scarves, blankets and kettles, the Keep Warm Kits have been provided to help the elderly and vulnerable during the cold winter season.

“I feel like it’s Christmas again!”, said Joanne, looking at the new flask, kettle and heater she had received. Teary eyed, she explained how touched she felt that others “still care about us” - “sometimes we think that people don’t care”.

Dave Barnard, Older People’s Transformation Manager at Toynbee Hall said: “This winter has seen some very cold weather, and the vulnerable people we meet and work with have benefitted greatly from the items from Muslim Aid.  The offer from Muslim Aid has lifted their spirits and enhanced their wellbeing”.

Raising over £10,000 so far, the Warm Hearts Winter Campaign is reaching out to the homeless and elderly, supporting them through the tough winter months. Muslim Aid seeks your support to continue this work and expand it even further.
