Ramadan 2010 Campaign Launched by Muslim Aid

Muslim Aid today launched its 2010 Ramadan campaign to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the charity. A media briefing was held at the Muslim Aid head office in London, to raise awareness and funds for its programmes and appeals for some of the poorest people across the world.  This year’s “What will you give this Ramadan” campaign will focus on a number of key programmes ranging from ‘feed the fasting’, to healthcare, education and childcare support.

Muslim Aid today held a meeting with the senior editors and reporters from the Pakistani media to seek their cooperation in raising awareness for Muslim Aid’s £2 million Emergency Flood Appeal for Pakistan. Muslim Aid appealed to the media to use their communication channels effectively to bring donors and NGOs together to help the flood affected people of Pakistan.

Torrential rains, flash floods and landslides have caused widespread devastation in Pakistan in the last three days. More than 300 people have lost their lives and nearly 400,000 have become homeless and displaced. The number is increasing by the day. Livestock, houses, bridges, link roads and communication infrastructure have been washed away by flood water. The level of water in the country’s major rivers has risen to a dangerous level threatening dams and embankments throughout the country.

   

Muslim Aid delivers over £130,000 of Medical equipment to Gaza Hospital

Muslim Aid this week delivered over £130,000 of medical equipment to Al-Shifa Hospital- the largest hospital in Gaza. The medical supplies will allow for greater healthcare to thousands who are in need of urgent medical attention since movement restrictions were placed on the Gaza strip. The recent donation by Muslim Aid is one of many operations with the aim to deliver emergency assistance in line with the needs of the people.
