Reach more, Help more this winter

In December 2011, Muslim Aid is launching its Winter Campaign to help alleviate the severe affects of the cold for the homeless and elderly.

Weather forecasts predict that the UK will experience widespread heavy snowfall well below normal temperatures this year. On average, over 30,000 people die in the UK each winter due to cold related causes. By failing to protect the vulnerable from the cold, tens of thousands of lives will be endangered this winter.  The elderly with serious illnesses are particularly vulnerable to the cold and need special attention.

The Warm Hearts Winter campaign supports the vulnerable elderly and the homeless. Last year, with your generous contributions, we managed to help over 6,000 elderly people throughout the UK with energy bills, electrical equipment to home insulation. This year we have partnered with Age UK and Shelter. With their expertise, we hope to reach more by working directly with them in local areas in order to help prepare the homeless and the elderly during the cold months.

The campaign will run between December 2011 - February 2012. We will provide ‘Keep Warm’ packages to the elderly and ‘keep warm kits’ to the homeless in the UK and around the world.
