Micro Finance

Muslim Aid has also begun a brand new micro-finance project to allow Palestinians to begin lifting themselves out of hardship. Micro-finance is the provision of small loans (microloans) to those in poverty, designed to spur entrepreneurship. So far Muslim Aid has supported its partner in acquiring fishing boats, cattle breeding, setting up computer maintenance and retail trading, purchasing taxis and developing an agricultural supplies shop.

By seeking out the neediest Palestinians and giving them funding and advice it is hoped that they will develop these businesses and help themselves out of hardship. What is unique about this project is that its overhead costs are minute because the loans will be paid back once the business gets off the ground.
