Supporting Gaza’s Children

Muslim Aid has been supporting children in Gaza through its Rainbow Family Programme which sponsors orphans and needy families. Children receive help with school fees, food, access to clean drinking water, healthcare and medical check ups for their eyesight and teeth. Families who have been affected by the recent war have also been provided with coupons in order to buy necessary items from the grocery store..

Children on the programme are provided school uniforms, school bags, stationary and are also provided psychological counselling should they need it. Children with learning difficulties and disabled children are given extra support by their teacher and a mentor. During Eid, Rainbow Family also helps to provide children with new clothes, gifts and a little pocket money.

 The increased fundraising for Gaza last year has enabled Muslim Aid to see a 40% increase in the number of needy children we support. Wafa Jaba a teacher at the Nour El Marefa school where many of our sponsored children study was thankful for the support extended to her school by the Rainbow Family Programme. She said that “anything the child needs is provided for them.” The programme is going from strength to strength and many children are now receiving the help they need to get the best start in life.
