The Muslim Aid office in Bangladesh has placed great importance on furthering the availability of education in the country.

Following extensive groundwork in 2005, it launched two formal schools in Dhaka and Kushtia in 2006. These schools have been established especially for the poor and mid-level families of the community.

Non-formal education

Muslim Aid has a total of 163 non-formal centers catering for 5,156 students.

One thirty-month course has been running in 30 centres in two sub-districts in the Nilphamari district, one in the North and one in Dhaka.

Boys and girls aged 8 to 14 years old were enrolled and have been learning Bengali and English and gathering knowledge on Social Science & Islamic daily affairs through a pre-designed course curriculum.

Education materials, school uniforms and some other incentives have been provided to the students.

Technical education

Under the Technical Education and Skill Development entity, Muslim Aid established the Muslim Aid Institute of Technology (MAIT) in Dhaka and the Muslim Aid Institute of Technology (MAIT) in Kushtia.

In 2005 the institute in Dhaka hosted almost 900 students, who were provided with technical knowledge and skill enhancement in different areas including computers, electrical, refrigerator, air conditioning, radio, television, tailoring, driving and engine mechanics.
