Qurbani Programmes

Muslim Aid’s Qurbani programme

In celebration of the historical sacrifice carried out by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) thousands of years ago, the blessings of Eid-ul-Adha fall upon us once again. Muslim Aid carries out sacrifices in over 47 of the poorest countries in the world, allowing you not only to fulfill your obligation but contribute to our wider goal of fighting poverty. For many, it is the first opportunity they get all year to taste meat, providing respite from the months of hunger they’re forced to endure

Bosnia Qurbani Livelihood programme

Supporting the local economy and securing the livelihood of families whose lives have been torn apart by war is one of the many ways our Qurbani programme helps alleviate long-term poverty. Muslim Aid’s Bosnia office runs a unique Livelihood programme, buying pregnant sheep at the beginning of the year when prices are low, loaning them to poor farmers who make use of the lambs, wool and milk throughout the year, then taking the animal back at Eid-ul-Adha to sacrifice as part of the Qurbani programme. The meat is then distributed to local communities, allowing them to benefit from the blessings of Eid.

Canned Qurbani

To make the Eid gift of Qurbani last longer for families in certain countries, Muslim Aid cans the meat immediately after the animal is slaughtered. These are then distributed at times of need, allowing the meat to benefit the poor long after Eid.
