When Hasla’s father died in 1996, she lost all sense of hope to continue her education. Hasla’s family from Colombo struggled to put food on their plates and to give Hasla an education. Although relatives of Hasla helped out now and then, her progress at School began to falter.

Hasla joined the Rainbow Family in 2007 and since then the sponsorship has helped in reducing the financial burden on her family. The sponsorship covers Hasla’s education, food, clothes and medical care. She is 16 years old now and achieving great results at school; before she joined the programme, she ranked 18th/ 30 in her class, but now she ranks a promising 9th/ 30 at School.
