Save Somalia

Over 300,000 children face death by starvation in Somalia. Four seasons of failed rain have forced 670,000 people to desert their homes in search of food and water. The famine has destroyed crops, livestock and increased rates of malnutrition and disease, with TB infections amongst the worst recorded in the world, millions of lives are at risk.

People are dying, they need your urgent support now.

Somalia is experiencing severe drought and is in desperate need of help. Four seasons of failed rain have forced 670,000 people to desert their homes in search of food and water and over 300,000 children face death by starvation in Somalia. 3.5 million people are already experiencing food insecurity.

The lack of rainfall and unbearable temperatures has destroyed crops and livestock, with local farming communities left without an income or food supply.

TB is one of the top 10 causes of death worldwide. Millions of people continue to fall sick from TB each year. In 2018, 10 million people around the world fell ill with TB and 1.5 million tragically died due to it.

In Somalia, one of the world’s most poverty-stricken nations, only 42% of estimated cases of TB are detected. This leaves a huge number of TB cases in the community undetected and untreated, hence enabling further transmissions. While antibiotics typically treat TB, studies have shown that the prevalence of drug-resistant TB has increased in Somalia.
