Ethiopia Emergency

Military confrontations between federal and regional forces in Ethiopia’s Tigray region, has led the Government to declare a State of Emergency. Over 40,000 people have now fled Ethiopia and taken refuge in Sudan. Muslim Aid teams in Sudan have partnered with UNHCR to provide emergency support. A donation of £30 could provide much needed help.

Fleeing Ethiopian refugees flood into Sudan

In early November, the Ethiopian Government declared a State of Emergency in the Tigray region, due to the escalation in violence. Over 40,000 people have now fled Ethiopia and taken refuge in Sudan. The rapid influx of refugees into Sudan has meant Muslim Aid is partnering with the UNHCR to mobilise and ramp up humanitarian assistance to support the Sudanese Government as the needs continue to grow.

People arriving are exhausted, scared and hungry. There is urgent need for food, water and medicine. With serious overcrowding the spread of Covid-19 is a real and dangerous threat.

Muslim Aid on the ground

Since the arrival of the first refugees into Sudan we have been on the ground providing food packs and setting up field kitchens. Through our partners we are also providing first aid and Covid-19 screening as well, but much more needs to be done.
