A devastating 5.8 magnitude earthquake has struck Pakistan, killing at least 19 and injuring more than 300 people.
According to reports, the casualty list includes young children and is expected to rise as more news comes in.
Infrastructure has been left severely damaged, with houses and buildings partially collapsing following the quake. The tremor also ripped through roads and buildings, leaving communities isolated and in need of immediate support. Our Muslim Aid Pakistan team are on the ground and, through your donations, will provide emergency food support, shelter, repairs and essential aid.
More than 400 victims of the earthquake have flooded local hospitals, stretching capacity to their limits. There is urgent need for medical supplies, equipment and psycho support to victims suffering from shock.
The epicentre of the quake was close to the city of Mirpur, which is in North Pakistan and in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. People in the area are still traumatised and healing from the catastrophic earthquake that struck there 14 years ago and took thousands of lives.
The Prophet Muhammad (saw) said “Whosoever removes a worldly grief from a believer, Allah will remove from him one of the grievances of the Day of Judgement. Whosoever alleviates the needs a needy person, Allah will alleviate his needs in this world and the next. Whosoever conceals the faults of a Muslim, Allah will conceal his faults in this world and the next. Allah will aid a servant [of His] so long as the servant aids his brother.
