Bangladesh Floods - Emergency Appeal

3.5–3.9 million people were affected by the heavy rains and rivers which have burst their banks, threatening their lives and safety.

  • Over 290,000 families were displaced, seeking refuge in makeshift shelters as their homes lie submerged.
  • Over 120 people died. The risk of infection and disease was high.
  • Railways and roads flooded and crops had been destroyed, leading to a breakdown in communication and local resources.
  • There was a high number of casualties and permanent and long-term infrastructure damage.
