Building a well for communities that don’t have access to clean and safe drinking water can be life changing.

Muslim Aid - Water and Sanitation

Water & Sanitation

Water is a source of life, yet over 1/6th of the world’s population lack access to safe drinking water. A further 2.5 billion, including 1 billion children, live without basic sanitation. We’re working towards the UN Millennium Development Goals to halve the number of people in the world without access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation by 2015. Over the past 5 years, through our Dig a Well project, we’ve built over 1,000 wells, helping thousands of people to protect themselves from waterborne diseases.

Our health and sanitation projects, including the construction of latrines and delivering hygiene awareness training, teaches communities to safeguard themselves.

Clean water doesn’t just allow good health, but helps communities to become productive and flourish. Our Water For Life projects run in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

Building Wells

What We Do

Our work incorporates building infrastructure, improving sanitation and developing hygiene awareness programmes. We put clean water at the heart of every community we work with. We seek to minimise environmental impact through new innovations
