On The Run: The Marrakech Marathon

Friday 25th - Monday 28th January 2019

Join us as we journey to Marrakech to raise funds for people in need across the world.

Begin 2019 on a high as you experience beautiful Morocco and achieve a new fitness goal on this exciting 4-day trip.

Running your race won’t just be a personal challenge – your sponsorship will go towards providing essential aid for those living in poverty, at risk of abuse or fleeing war and violence.

Pound the streets through this stunning city, steeped in history and culture and make a real difference to the lives of people in need. Take in the magical souks, vibrant gardens and historic palaces of this amazing city. And as one of the flattest courses in the world, this is a race you do not want to miss. 

Travellers should book their own flight to Marrakech. Flights are available from London: either BA and Easyjet from Gatwick or Ryanair from Luton or Stansted.   

What’s included?

• Transport to and from Marrakech airport to the hotel  

Accommodation for 3 nights based on half-board (breakfast and dinner) 

Lunch (salad, main course and one soft drink or tea) on Saturday and Sunday (at a designated restaurant).

Dinner at the hotel for Friday, Saturday and Sunday 

• Saturday day trip – 4 options to choose from. * see below

•  Sunday – race day – lunch as above

• Lunch on Friday 25th (for those arriving to Marrakech in the morning)

• Any additional costs at hotel, e.g. room service.

Saturday day trip options

Marrakech city tour - private guided tour of Marrakech. Local guide and includes museum fees, bottle of water and lunch as above. Visiting well known sites: Jardin Marjarelle; Menara; Palais Bahia, Saadian Tombs. 

Quad biking - transport to the Agafay desert, about 45 mins outside Marrakech. 1 hour each alternating quad biking plus camel ride for ½ hour each person. Transport included. Option for additional quad biking at extra minimal cost. 

 Cascade d’Ouzoud – trip to the Waterfall known as Cascade d’Ouzoud. (around 2½ hour drive/160 km) Trip includes local guide and lunch.  Leave around 8 a.m. arriving back to Marrakech around 6 p.m. The Ouzoud Waterfalls are located between the Middle and High Atlas Mountains. The flow of water and the formation of limestone have created a splendid waterfall which is around 100 metres high.  The pool beneath the waterfalls is around 8 metres deep and it is possible to swim there especially in the summer.

Essaouira – trip to the coast (around 2½ to 3-hour drive/176 km). Leave Marrakech at around 8 a.m. arriving back to Marrakech around 6 p.m. Trip includes lunch.  Essaouira is a vibrant city port on the Atlantic coast. The city’s original Berber name is ‘Mogadir’ meaning ‘well-kept.
