The winter season has officially established itself in the mountainous regions of Lebanon, Jordan, Northern Syria and most of the Middle East. For many people, it might be a welcome change from the gruelling summer. For the 2.2 million Syrian refugees living in makeshift camps and tents in neighbouring countries, this is yet another obstacle; adding to the already long list of complications they currently need to tackle daily.
Muslim aid launched its Syria Relief Aid Campaign in order to provide for these refugees, whose lives have been shattered by war, violence and bloodshed. The generous contributions from our valued donors have enabled us to provide water, food, clothes and medicine for the Syrian refugees.
The change in weather has made a bad situation worse because everyone is affected by it. Hundreds of thousands of Syrian people are surviving it at this very moment, without adequately warm clothes and blankets, leaving them particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of the cold weather. In order to combat this, Muslim Aid is urgently appealing to you to continue supporting the Syrian people by donating money and raising awareness. Muslim Aid is currently accepting donations through its website and welcomes anyone who is wishing to get involved in this project.
A donation of £10 will provide a warm blanket for one person. Imagine one child or elderly person being able to get a good night’s sleep, rather than shivering all the way through these cold, dark nights. A donation of £30 could sponsor a Syrian refugee child for one whole month. Not only is this a great act of humanity, but also a hugely spiritual act.
People who fled Syria left everything behind, including their homes and all their belongings. They only held on to family and sought refuge in refugee camps, with nothing but the clothes on their back. A £50 donation can provide a winter warmth kit for one entire family, making the lives of these families somewhat easier, at least when it comes to dealing with the cold weather.
Over a hundred thousand innocent lives have been lost due to the ongoing Syrian crisis. The world wants this needless violence to end and to see the people of Syria safely back home. These refugees now face yet another enemy in the form of brutal cold weather. They are counting on our support to get through these tough times. Muslim Aid has been active on the ground assisting them through your pledges and donations. It is time to do more for the people of Syria. Pledge your donation today through Muslim Aid’s website and keep a family warm this winter.
