Child Sponsorship, A Dire Necessity For Syrian Children

It is a sad state of affairs to see and hear of the war, famine, and suffering on the news. There seems to be no end to it, and it is evident that people are suffering. There is the Syria Crisis, which is now more than three years old. It has claimed more than one hundred thousand lives to date. Then there is the crisis in Gaza, which is more than a generation old and has only recently witnessed some of the bloodiest months in its history. On top of that, Myanmar continues to make headlines due to unrest and turmoil. The list goes on.

There is no end in sight for the refugees who have been flocking to neighbouring countries in search of food and shelter. From Syria, there are over 2.8 million refugees currently living along the borders of neighbouring countries; a large number of these people are children, most of them under 18 years of age. In Syria and its neighbouring countries, there is a genuine need for relief aid and child sponsorship.

Muslim Aid quickly shot into action as the Syrian Crisis unfolded. We analysed the situation on the ground and figured out what was most needed. It quickly became clear that children were impacted the most by the recent crisis, and in dire need of help. Some of these children were completely separated from their families, others were living on the streets with no place to go. All of them were in dire need of food, water and other basic necessities.

Our Syria Emergency Campaign’s primary focus is to provide the refugees, especially the children, with the necessities first. We introduced emergency relief packages and provided clean water, sanitation packs, food supply and emergency health care.

Finding a sponsor for the Syrian children is conly possible thanks to the wonderful people who lend their support. There are still thousands of childrenin need of help, however, and as Muslims it is our duty to answer their call.

Muslim Aid will continue to work hard to get every child has access to the basic tools and amenities they need to get on their feet. We will continue our vigorous campaign for the people of Syria and other desperate regions. May Allah (SWT) reward all those who have donated generously and those who assist us in achieving our mission to secure the future of the children of Syria.
