Eileen, Muslim Aid Press and Media Manager

It's with great sadness we report that our dear friend and Muslim Aid colleague, Eileen Maybin passed away yesterday Thursday 9 July 2020.

Eileen was the Muslim Aid Press and Media Manager for more than 4 years and has spent her working life serving in the charity and NGO sectors - having previously worked for organisations like Christian Aid and Fair Trade Foundation.

Her passion to report on injustice was infectious and the way she campaigned for the vulnerable was nothing short of exemplary.

Eileen's most notable recent work included the Grenfell Report, calling for key lessons to be learned. She also tirelessly worked on campaigning for the forgotten, including Syrian Refugees who, after nearly a decade, are still homeless and stuck at makeshift refugee camps without access to healthcare or education.

It's an extremely difficult time for all who knew Eileen, and I'm sure all our staff and supporters are with us in remembering her in our prayers.

Whilst the pandemic gripped the world in 2020, Eileen spent this year battling against an aggressive cancer.

Sadly, the disease was spreading uncontrollably, but it never for a moment changed the loveable, caring and benevolent person Eileen was.

She will be dearly missed by all and our hearts go out to her family and friends.

Our prayers go out to her beloved family and friends during these difficult times.
