Government of Somalia Praises Muslim Aid for Support
On his recent visit to Somalia, Muslim Aid’s CEO, Syed Sharfuddin met with H.E. Dr. Abdi Aziz Sheikh Yusuf, Minister of Health of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
Speaking on behalf of the government of Somalia, H.E. Dr. Abdi Aziz Sheikh Yusuf praised Muslim Aid for its humanitarian operations in the country and confirmed confidence in the Charity’s activities. He added, "I want to tell you that we are very happy with the humanitarian assistance Muslim Aid is delivering to the people of Somalia now and for the many years before and we are committed to supporting you and facilitating your delivery of assistance to the Somali people".
Somalia witnessed mass exodus, resulting in a large scale humanitarian crisis following the civil war in the early 1990s. A field office was established in Mogadishu in 1993 by Muslim Aid in response to the crisis. Since then, the Charity has been working actively to provide emergency relief and facilitate the recovery by dealing with issues like education, shelter, healthcare and food. Muslim Aid is also actively engaging with international partners to support stabilisation and reconstruction of post war Somalia.
