The beginning of May has marked the official launch of Muslim Aid’s partnership with PL84U, a service that provides hot food to the homeless, elderly and those living under conditions of financial difficulty or isolation.
Over 100 people were in attendance on the day, including Tesco representatives, who support with food donations, and the Mayor of Waltham Forest, who praised the initiative – “We are 280,000 people [in Waltham forest], but we are one community – this is clearly shown here today in this wonderful launch”.
After handing over a cheque for £12,000, Muslim Aid staff joined other regular service users for a plate of hot biriyani and lamb.
Regular volunteer and photographer at PL84U, Sanaa, was grateful for the support: “Muslim Aid’s contribution means we can run this service more regularly, inshallah. We hope to be able to do this every week in future.”
