Muslim Aid Pakistan Celebrates World Literacy Day 2012
Muslim Aid Pakistan joined the Muslim International NGOs Forum’s celebration on World Literacy Day held on the 8th September 2012 at The National Press Club, Islamabad to discuss the work of international Muslim NGOs in Pakistan.
The event, entitled ‘The role of international NGOs and media in the promotion of education in Pakistan’ was attended by government and education representatives including the Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON), Engineer Shaukat Ullah Khan, Parliamentary Secretary for Human Rights Rubina Qaim Khani, Vice Chancellor Riphah International University, Dr. Anees Ahmed, and Vice Chancellor of Allama Iqbal Open University Dr. Nazir A Sangi. Muslim Aid Pakistan’s Country Director Khobaib Vahedy said: ‘Accessibility to education is the need of the hour for the nation and collective efforts from the government, media and NGOs are required to achieve the 2nd Millennium Development Goal of Primary Education for all.’
