Muslim Aid sends heartfelt condolences to New Zeland victims and families

We at Muslim Aid are shocked and horrified at today's terrorist attacks on two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, killing at least 49 people and described as 'a terrorist attack' by New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern. Muslim Aid sends heartfelt condolences to all those affected.

Jehangir Malik OBE, Muslim Aid Chief Executive Officer, said: "Now, more than ever, we must all stand together in solidarity against these callous and ruthless murders. We must continue to stand together against Islamophobia, racism and rising fascism. We must not let hate win and must work hard to root out any hatred for others."

More than 40 people were seriously injured. Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has described one of the alleged gunmen as an "extremist, right-wing terrorist."

"I can't imagine the pain families and friends are going through at this very moment," adds Mr Malik. "Our prayers and thoughts are with them constantly."
