Muslim Aid Sri Lanka hands over Pre-School in Kurunegala
Keeping on par with second Millennium Development Goal and with one of the main objectives of Muslim Aid , providing “Education For All” which aims at improving access to elementary and primary education, Muslim Aid Sri Lanka ceremoniously opened a pre-school in Minuwangete in the Kurunegala district.
The pre-school which was in a derelict state was an unsuitable environment for little children to study. The village itself is very remote. Most of the families are economically unstable and are in need of clean drinking water, proper sanitation facilities. Most of the parents are uneducated and have serious financial issues, and are unable to give very little importance to their children’s pre-schooling.
Providing a good environment for the pre-schoolers was a fundamental requirement to curtail the high level of school dropouts in the country which is often caused by poverty. Since Muslim Aid renovated the school children will now be able to enjoy their pre-schooling in well constructed, well equipped and in a colourful building.
