Muslim Aid UK is pleased to announce that it has obtained permission from Myanmar Government authorities to deliver humanitarian relief to the internally displaced persons in the conflict-affected areas in Rakhine State. Following this progress, Muslim Aid has opened offices in Yangon and Sittwe.
Rakhine State is one the most impoverished and densely populated areas of Myanmar. It is characterised by malnutrition, low income, poverty and poor infrastructure. It is also prone to storms and floods which cause severe destruction. Currently, the humanitarian condition in Rakhine State is the priority for both the Myanmar Government and international aid agencies. Internally Displaced Persons in Rakhine State are in urgent need of food, shelter and healthcare assistance. There is also a shortage of clean drinking water and adequate sanitation, exposing them to water borne diseases.
We invite all NGOs and humanitarian agencies to respond to the urgent need on the ground in Myanmar by collaborating humanitarian efforts with Muslim Aid.
