During the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah, the final month in the Islamic calendar, Muslims will perform Qurbani as an act of worship to Allah (swt).
Qurbani is the act of paying for or performing the ritual slaughter of an animal - usually a goat or sheep - and the meat distributed to the poor and needy. The act of Qurbani commemorates the sacrifice that Ibrahim (AS) was prepared to make for Allah (swt) as a test of his faith.
Many people, choose to donate their Qurbani to be performed in other countries or areas on their behalf. The animal is selected and the meat is distributed to people who have very little. For many people in receipt of Qurbani, the meat that is sacrificed and given to them is the only time when they can eat properly.
"Then eat thereof and feed therewith the poor having a hard time." (Qur'an 22:28)
At Muslim Aid, we believe in helping everyone in need.
That's why our Qurbani programme is one of the most inclusive and wide-reaching. We go to the countries, towns and villages where people are forgotten to ensure that all those who need us can benefit from your generosity.
Choose from our banded international programmes as well as our UK Qurbani option and exclusive family package. Call 020 7377 4200 to donate your Qurbani now or visit muslimaid.org
