Muslim Aid is a UK-based relief & development organisation established in 1985 and with country offices in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Iraq, Syria Lebanon, Somalia and Sudan. It also works in a number of other countries through partners. Muslim Aid has been working in Bangladesh since 1991, with a country office in Dhaka and 68 branch offices, and with 435 staff members.

We are looking for a Country Director for Bangladesh who will contribute to and implement Muslim Aid’s global strategy, by providing vision and strategic direction to all of Muslim Aid’s work in the country. This includes Muslim Aid’s humanitarian responses, long term development programme design and implementation, external relationships management, and policy and influencing. Responsible and accountable for the strategic direction and effective management of the country office, ensuring development, continued improvement in quality and impact of programmes and effective financial and human resource management in line with Muslim Aid’s policy.

In order to improve the quality of our work, strengthen our credibility in the development sector, build and nurture a high performing and diverse team, we are currently seeking an outstanding and distinctive Country Director. This person will have demonstrable strategic and creative leadership, management and coordination skills in a network setting, a multi-cultural worldview, a solid understanding of gender in development, and an understanding the systemic challenges and strengths of being in a global organisation. We are looking for someone who is good at building and managing relations at the highest level. Excellent communication skills, and fluency of English, are essential.

We particularly welcome applications from women and from people who would not normally consider applying to Muslim Aid, as we are aiming to increase diversity and under-represented groups at senior management level, both within the Bangladesh country office and globally.
