We are looking to recruit a pool of dedicated, enthusiastic individuals that we can call upon to help us staff our Live Appeal Team throughout 2017.  Live appeals play an integral part in our fundraising efforts for those in emergency and dire situations.  Our aim is to help change the lives of those in need.

What is Live Appeal?

Live appeals are televised appeals asking viewers to donate to a specific cause on that night.  Viewers call our Live Appeal Team where we provide them with more information about the appeal, accept and process their donations.  Last year we ran live appeals in Ramadan for our Rainbow Family Child Sponsorship Programme, a hospital in Syria, children’s health in Palestine and dig-a-well.  We also ran live appeals in Qurbani and for the Myanmar emergency.

How can I be a part of the Live Appeal team?

There are three ways you can apply to be a part of this amazing team. 

  1. Application form – Simply complete and submit the application form at the bottom of this ad.
  2. Video profile – Submit a video recording to us with your CV to  This will be your chance to showcase who you are as a person.  We have included a guide on how to create your video profile at the bottom of this ad.
  3. Open evening – we will host an open evening (date to be announced) where you can come in to find out more about Live Appeal, speak to us, get a feel for the organisation and for the environment and see where you’d be working.  To register your interest please email

What skills/abilities/characteristics do I need?

You will need to have the following skills, abilities and characteristics:

  • A good telephone manner e.g. polite, helpful, friendly, sensitive.
  • Good clear spoken English.
  • Good listening skills.
  • Patience.
  • A desire to want to help those in need.
  • The ability to learn and use new IT systems quickly.
  • An ability to speak and/or understand Urdu, Bengali or Hindi would be beneficial for some of our live appeals.

How does the future opportunities pool work? 

We are looking to create a pool of candidates that we can draw on when we need to staff our Live Appeal Team throughout the year.  The pool allows us to have a group of individuals that we can call in response to appeals in Ramadan, Qurbani, on Eid and emergencies.

Candidates will go through the standard recruitment process including an assessment and an interview.  Successful candidates will then go into the pool.  We will contact candidates ahead of live appeals to establish their availability and roster them in.

What can I expect when working as part of the live appeal team?

Live appeals vary in length.  They can last from a few hours during the day to overnight (approximately evening to dawn) depending on the cause and television channel. 

You will be providing a friendly frontline service to donors.  You will be answering calls and taking donations over the phone.  Members of our Fundraising, HR and Donations Teams will be on hand to help you in taking donations and answering questions. 

We provide refreshments at all live appeals.  Iftar (food eaten to end the fast) and Sehri (food eaten before the fast begins) will be provided in Ramadan.


We will provide you with customer service training ahead of the live appeal as well as training on the use of our in-house donations system ThankQ.
