Fidya: Where a person is unable to fast due to their ill health, a payment is given in substitution. Fidya is £5 per a day for each individual.
So the month of Ramadan would be £5 x 30 (days of fasting) = £150
The money is used to feed the poor; the £5 would feed needy person two meals in one day.
Kaffarah: This is when a fasting person deliberately breaks their fast. They are then required to redo the fast and make a payment for the broken fast. If they are unable to do so, they should feed 60 poor people for every fast missed, as a rate of £5 per person.
