Saida Udtong, Philippines

Thirteen-year-old Saida comes from a large family of eight. Her father, a farm worker and market labourer, barely earns enough to support the family, and cannot afford the fees to send Saida to school - "My father's earnings are not even enough to sustain the needs of our family", Saida told Muslim Aid staff. Whilst her parents work, Saida stays at home to look after her siblings.

On receiving her Qurbani meat, Saida was excited to return home - "My heart was filled with happiness walking home knowing I am bringing rizq (blessings) to my family" she said. "It's been so long since we've eaten meat, I know this will put a smile on their faces".

We are a faith-based British international charity that provides help to people who are victims of natural disasters or conflict or suffering from poverty, hunger, disease, homelessness, injustice, deprivation or lack of skills and economic opportunities.
