For over 40 years, we have worked to build our long-term development programmes, which serve to enable independent, brighter futures.

Nihara is 40 years old and lives with her child and father in a remote region of Sri Lanka.
She tries to find work as a tailor but it is often not enough to buy even the most basic of essentials for her family. Nihara attended entrepreneurial and cattle farm training through Muslim Aid’s Livelihood programmes. Following assessment, Muslim Aid her a pregnant cow, shed construction materials, tools and support for Nihara to run her own dairy farm. As a result she has now doubled her income and gained security for her family. Nihara feels proud and empowered about what she has achieved, her smile says it all! She is determined now to expand her farm and become a role model and mentor for other women in her village.
Our livelihood programmes address issues of inequality by empowering women and young people. We ensure that families and businesses can become self-sufficient, to serve not only themselves but also their wider communities.
