"The best house among the Muslims is the house in which orphans are well treated.”
Life is all about making the most of the opportunities that come your way. Some of us are very blessed in that regard. Others are not so fortunate. Blame it on sheer luck or on difficult circumstances (unforeseeable or not), fact is that some people find themselves at the receiving end of the brutal blows life deals the underprivileged. The matter is even more heart breaking when little children are involved; orphans living in a shelter with no idea of who their parents were; children who live in poverty most of their lives never knowing life beyond the shelter that is now their home.
This is where child sponsorship comes in to make all the difference.
The sponsor a child is to undertake a task that is greatly appreciated by ALLAH and his messengers. It is stressed upon and encouraged in the Qur’an and is also the Sunnah of our holy prophet PBUH. This noble practice was also adapted by our holy prophet PBUH to look after orphans and show love and support for them as he also was an orphan. Quran is explicit in the rights of orphans.
"So as for the orphans, do not oppress them, and as for beggars, do not berate them," (93:9-10)
"Have you seen him who denies the deen (religion)? He is the one who harshly rebuffs the orphan and does not urge the feeding of the poor." (107:1-3)
Muslim Aid’s Child Orphan Sponsorship Programme
Rainbow Family is a child orphan sponsorship programme by Muslim Aid. This programme is specifically designed to help children realise their aspirations and achieve their dreams. However, the programme doesn’t just stop there. It goes beyond a child’s education and provides them with quality healthcare, food, clothing and emotional stability and well being.
Muslims around the world donate generously for a good cause or multiple causes, by helping those who are suffering and providing them with the assistance they need to get back on their feet. Islam instructs them to have a clear intention of helping others in whatever capacity for as long as they can provided they meet their family obligations first. Giving Sadaqah, performing Zakat and sponsoring an orphan are some of the ways to go about doing just that.
Children develop a close fascination with a dream early on. It’s what motivates them to keep going. Share a child’s dream. Make it become a reality. For as little as £25 a month, you can sponsor an orphan and open new doors to a child’s future. There are hundreds of thousands of children that are in dire need of care especially in war torn countries like Iraq and Afghanistan. Your pledge will ensure that they stay in school, continue their education and become leaders of their community. It will enable children to seek support and counselling when needed from qualified mentors on academic, personal and emotional issues.
