British Muslim celebrities summit Snowdon for Muslim Aid

Two performers have led dozens of Muslim Aid volunteers to the top of Wales’ tallest mountain to raise £120,000 for people in urgent need.

Performers, social media influencers and comedians AliOfficial (Ali Shahalom – who has recently landed his own BBC3 comedy show, Muzlamic) and BrownGirlProblems (Rucksar Naaz, who runs an acclaimed YouTube channel) have already finished a UK tour which raised £100k for Muslim Aid’s relief and development work. The tour supported our Rainbow Family project, enabling us to provide 250 children with food, medicine and shelter as well as emotional and other support.

Ali and Rucksar climbed the 1100-metre Snowdon one week apart, in a mixed-gender climb and a women’s climb. Each led a team of around 50 volunteers. The volunteers came from across the UK and have raised hundreds for Muslim Aid in their own communities, from car washes to bake sales.

The day-long expedition left people exhausted, but happy to have taken part.

Muslim Aid’s CEO, Jehangir Malik OBE, said: “Without people giving up their time and money out of goodwill and compassion, we would be unable to do the work we do.”

“Snowdon is a rewarding climb in a beautiful national park but it is no mean feat – I’d like to congratulate and thank Rucksar, Ali and every volunteer who took part in the expedition and raised so much to help people in some of the world’s most challenging environments.”

We are a faith-based British international charity that provides help to people who are victims of natural disasters or conflict or suffering from poverty, hunger, disease, homelessness, injustice, deprivation or lack of skills and economic opportunities.
