Muslim Aid Distributes Sleeping Bags as Part of Winter Campaign
In a display of humanitarian partnership and interfaith cooperation, Muslim Aid and His Church Charity UK joined hands this year to distribute sleeping bags to a number of homeless support centres in London. The distribution was carried out as part of Muslim Aid’s Winter Campaign for 2012.
This winter, Muslim Aid has partnered with other UK organisations, including Age UK, Shelter and Age Concern Tower Hamlets to help alleviate the adverse effects of the cold winter weather, especially for the elderly and homeless.
The sleeping bags were supplied by His Church Charity UK. The distribution was carried out by Muslim Aid throughout January to the Salvation Army Hopetown Lifehouse homeless support shelter for women, Emmaus Greenwich Homeless Charity, Streetlytes UK Outreach to the Poor and Homeless, 999 Club and Salvation Army Booth House.
A spokesperson for Muslim Aid said: “We believe that through such focused partnerships, humanitarian organisations can put their resources together to reach out to the poor and homeless in the UK. From the feedback we have received from beneficiaries, we are encouraged to expand our partnerships with other organisations within the UK for such projects.”
