This Ramadan, Muslim Aid donors and supporters have shown unprecedented generosity to the humanitarian call for assistance in Gaza, Syria and communities suffering from poverty, natural disasters and lack of basic necessities. Since the launch of Muslim Aid’s Ramadan campaign, supporters of the Charity have stood strong and firm beside those who are suffering, and have donated over £6.5million, £1.2million out of this total was donated in one night during a telethon.
Hamid Azad, CEO of Muslim Aid said, “Whilst many of us enjoyed the blessed month of Ramadan and the festive occasion of Eid with our family and friends in a safe and joyful environment, millions of people spent their Ramadan and Eid in fear, hunger and struggle. We are grateful to our donors for their generous support in the Holy month and for putting their trust in us. We assure our supporters that we will fulfil our obligations as a humanitarian organisation in ensuring the funds collected are utilized in the most efficient and effective manner as well as keeping them fully updated with the progress. We especially want to express our gratitude to our donors and well-wishers for their generosity and kind messages for the people of Gaza who are victims of the ongoing atrocities. Our partners and volunteers are working tirelessly to help them. We are placing great emphasis on following the correct procedures and channels to ensure quality delivery of our humanitarian aid in Gaza.”
Dr Manazir Ahsan, Chairman of Muslim Aid said, “This Ramadan we have witnessed how a community can unite to respond to the cries of help. As an organisation our key priority now is to continue to work with our partners in Gaza to ensure projects are delivered proficiently. We also must continue to maintain delivery of our long term projects to alleviate poverty and sufferings of deprived communities in countries such as Bangladesh, Bosnia, Iraq, Myanmar, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Somalia and Sudan.
I take this opportunity to thank our staff, volunteers and partner organisations behind the success of our Ramadan campaign; both in the UK and around the world.”
