1989 - Scaling Emergency Aid

1989 – Scaling Emergency Aid

Droughts and civil wars left millions across Ethiopia, Angola, Mozambique and Sudan facing famine; Muslim Aid continued to send tents, blankets, food and medicines and, by this time, had distributed over £1 million of emergency aid internationally.

The organisation also launched a Sponsored Orphan Scheme (initially helping 76 children in six countries) and began prioritising longer-term programmes in education, health and livelihoods as relief work matured into development.

We are a faith-based British international charity that provides help to people who are victims of natural disasters or conflict or suffering from poverty, hunger, disease, homelessness, injustice, deprivation or lack of skills and economic opportunities.
