A fundamental change in Muslim Aid's legal and governance structure

Muslim Aid underwent a fundamental change to its legal identity and governance structure. The former charity, MA 1985 (charity no. 295224), formerly known as Muslim Aid, ceased operating and was removed from the Charity Commission register on 1 February 2018.

The current legal entity, Muslim Aid, a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO) registered under charity number 1176462, was registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales on 29 December 2017. With effect from 1 February 2018, it received a transfer of assets and liabilities from MA 1985 and commenced operations as a new legal entity, under an entirely new governing document, legal personality, governance framework and trustee board.

This marked a significant institutional transition in Muslim Aid's history, establishing the legal and governance structure under which the organisation operates today.
