Emergency

Nepal Floods Emergency

Hundreds of people, including children, are missing, while many others have lost their lives following devastating flash floods in Nepal’s Rasuwa district and parts of Tibet. The sudden surge of water into the Bhote Koshi River from Tibet caused widespread flooding, sweeping through villages with little warning and leaving communities devastated.

Nepal Floods Emergency

Flash floods and a glacial collapse in Nepal have devastated communities along the Trishuli River, killing over 470 people and leaving thousands more missing. Homes, roads and bridges have been swept away. Please help Nepal now.

What is happening

Water surged through Nepal's Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts on 26 August, after a section of glacier broke away on the Nepal-China border and sent a wall of water down the valley. In some places, the river rose by nine metres in thirty minutes.

Entire villages have been buried in mud and debris. Roads and bridges are gone, cutting off communities from rescue and aid. More than 470 people are confirmed dead, and over 2,300 are still missing. Families who survived are now without shelter, food or clean water, and the monsoon season is bringing fears of further landslides.
