السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Faithful brothers and sisters,

Today, we come together with heavy hearts but hopeful spirits to stand by our dear brother AbdulSalim Sarwan, who has recently undergone harsh trials in his life. Just weeks ago, he suffered serious injuries through a terrible road accident. The cost of his treatment came to more than 170,000 Rupees even though doctors tried helping him overcome it through operations.

The Quran reminds us Muslims that whoever saves one life is like saving all humankind (Quran 5:32). In days of trouble and hardship we have to get together and give support but also extend hands in charity and kindness. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught us that it was important for us to take care of each other especially when someone needs help.

Let us contemplate about what Allah said: “And whatever you spend for raiment or vow – verily Allah knows it all. And there is no helper for wrongdoers.” (Quran 2:270). This fundraising event is an opportunity for us to fulfil our duty as Muslims by giving out charity (Zakat) while showing love and compassion that Islam teaches us.

I come to you as brothers and sisters, for AbdulSalim Sarwan  needs our help. It is a long and difficult road to recovery, but if we stand by each other in this hour of need, we can lessen the burden of indebtedness they now labor under because of his ill health. There is no amount that is too small. Let us give generously, knowing that every contribution, no matter how small, is a means of blessing and mercy from Allah.

May Allah reward each of you abundantly for your generosity and may He grant AbdulSalim Sarwan a swift and complete recovery.
