Join us in providing clean water to 200 deserving families living in a water-scarce area nestled amidst rocky terrain and surrounded by mountains, where water access is a daunting challenge.

Many regions of the District Saharanpur in Western Uttar Pradesh (UP), suffer from the scarcity of drinking/clean water. The report of the National Rural Drinking Water Program (NRDWP) revealed a grave situation of drinking water shortage in the northern Indian state, U.P. Out of 60,560 villages in U.P., only 42,356 villages have drinking water facilities.  For the rest 22,238 villages, there is a water shortage either due to the dried-up water sources or the failed drinking water projects. More than 2,000 villages do not have any water facilities and the residents of these villages have to fetch water from far-off places.

Janhit India Water Project

As a case study, district Saharanpur in western UP, where the major community didn't have usable water access, had to bring water from a distance of half to 1 km from their houses. Sometimes, their neighbors refused to give them water. They were living a hard life due to the scarcity of water and due to no water supply at their homes. JMKS in the last few years has installed hundreds of water pumps and bore wells and successfully reduced its drinking water problem.

Major Causes

•Inability in investing in water collection, storage, and purification. Additionally, caste continues to play a role in determining access to water in some villages.

•Negligence of the local administration and the public representatives: Despite numerous calls by the MPs and MLAs the government did not take any action in resolving this grave problem.
