Lets built their Dream Mosque

Fundraiser by Nur Zakina

Tens of years the residents of Uba Village, Patedong Hamlet, Pulau Moyo Village did not have a mosque properly. The old building made almost entirely of wood stands on private land, spanning decades without a clear status. Residents were forced to move the shabby old wooden mosque.

Around 1993, the first time the mosque or around 30 years was built on a piece of land which was said to have been donated by his heirs. However, in recent years the heirs have sued and withdrawn the waqf because their parents used to endow the land only through verbal expression, without a clear legal status.

Hundreds of Muslim souls living in the village of Uba are now trying to build a new mosque on a new land that has the status of waqf. The waqf of waqf, Mr. Usman, has declared that he will endow his plot of land for the relocation of the Al-Iman mosque in Uba village. This decision made the Muslims in the village very happy.

To fund the construction of the mosque, the residents of Uba village made a donation, without a nominal amount. Each resident may contribute five thousand rupiah, 10 thousand, or however much they can afford. This business is certainly far from enough to buy all the building materials needed. In the end, only the foundation and part of the mosque's walls were able to be built today. Very simple, sober.

The mosque is the result of community self-help, in the form of energy, thoughts, funds. Every day they worked together to collect beach sand for the construction of the mosque, cleaned the mosque area, built the foundation, started the walls, and even once in a while they prayed together in the rubble of the foundation. Sometimes the old mosque and the new mosque are only able to accommodate worshipers so that only some residents pray at the mosque due to the narrowness of the new mosque, while the old mosque is weathered and in poor condition. As for the water supply for ablution, it is very minimal, the water is brackish, the floor of the mosque is dirty, the roof leaks, the walls have holes, the carpets are shabby and not maintained.

Lets do our best for help them to realized their Dream Mosque
