How Your Support Helped Rahmat Rebuild After the Floods

When floods swept through Lower Chitral in 2023, Rahmat Alam lost everything.

A father of two young daughters, aged 4 and 2, Rahmat watched helplessly as his home was destroyed. With no savings and only a modest income from working in a shop, he had no way to rebuild. He moved his family into a single, damaged room in his brother’s house. Barely standing, barely enough.

“I struggled every day to provide for my family,” Rahmat shared. “But what hurt most was not being able to give them a safe space.”

For many families already living on the margins, disasters like these wash away homes, as well as dignity and stability. But thanks to your generous donations, Muslim Aid was able to support Rahmat through the Chitral Recovery Project.

Rahmat and his family received a One Room Shelter (ORS), a strong, insulated space with a toilet, designed to withstand the harsh winters of northern Pakistan. It gave them protection from the cold and in turn restored their privacy, dignity, and peace of mind.

“We had no resources to rebuild,” Rahmat said. “Now, Muslim Aid has built a strong, quality room for us. My family can live with dignity again, protected from the cold. This house is not just shelter—it’s a blessing.”

Your sadaqah turned despair into comfort, instability into safety. Because of you, families like Rahmat’s are not surviving disaster and finding the strength to rebuild.

This is what it means to be one ummah: when hardship strikes, we come together to lift each other up. May Allah reward you for every brick, every beam, every act of compassion.
