Charity that Keeps On Giving

Sadaqah Jaariyah - Ongoing Charity and Reward

Sadaqah Jaariyah is known as an ongoing form of charity that can benefit us both in this life and in the Hereafter. Each and every time someone benefits from this form of charity, our rewards are increased.

Charity that Keeps On Giving

Death is given to every single human being on earth, and with our bodies, all our worldly actions leave the world, too. These actions are then separated into good and bad deeds. The beautiful mercy our Lord has upon us gives us the opportunity to earn rewards even after we have left the earth.

As the Holy Prophet (PBUH) has narrated:

“Indeed, it is also charity to even utter a kind word.”

Types of Sadaqah

There are many different forms of Sadaqah. Something as small as smiling at someone or speaking a good word on someone's behalf is a form of Sadaqah. Charity signifies a charitable act that can bring joy and benefit to others.

For example, donating a copy of the Holy Qur’an to a Mosque is a form of Sadaqah Jaariyah because, for each and every person that reads from that Qur’an, you will reap the rewards, even after your demise.

Here are a few ideas on forms of Sadaqah Jaariyah:

-          Contributing towards someone’s education or welfare

-          Sponsoring an orphan or someone in need

-          Donating a wheelchair to a hospital

-          Gifting someone a Tasbeeh, Islamic book or Hijab

-          Donating towards the installation of a water well or hand pump in countries suffering from a poor water supply. See here for further information

A hand pump takes around three days to construct, and its impact can be enormous. These pumps can last for many years and prevent water-borne diseases and even death in many cases. Therefore, every time someone uses water from this pump, you will gain rewards for it.

The Power of Charity Giving

A simple act of giving has the potential to change so many lives; it is hard to see why one would not want to help those who are less fortunate.

There are so many other forms of ongoing charity; It can also be donated on behalf of a loved or deceased one.

Today, there are so many of us lucky enough to be in a position to help others, and there are many charities, such as Muslim Aid, ready and on the ground helping to deliver aid to where it is needed.

Charity Rewards That Stay Always
