Get Involved this Ramadan 2017

Ramadan 2017 is here and as many of us know, this holy month is one in which there are blessings and rewards aplenty. This prestigious month is one which is there to set us in good standing and structure to live the rest of our lives in the best way possible. Ramadan serves us as a reminder as to how we should be living our lives.

Here at Muslim Aid, we continuously strive to introduce campaigns and projects to help those less fortunate than us and during the month of Ramadan, this is no different. There are many thousands out there who need our help every single day and we can only achieve this with your support.

If you would like to help us during Ramadan 2017 and donate to a good cause, here are just a few of our many campaigns that you could get involved in and support this year.

Visit a Prisoner

If, like us, you would like to make a significant difference or have a positive effect on someone’s life, you could volunteer to mentor some of our brothers and sisters in prison. Your influence could help change someone’s outlook on life, helping to guide them in the right direction and eventually rebuild their lives.

Many prisoners often face a lack of support from their family and find themselves dealing with criticisms and jibes from the community, which can often lead to a feeling of isolation. Your support and guidance (both practical and emotional) can help these prisoners overcome these feelings and create optimism for their future prospects following release.

A simple donation – from as little as £10 - can provide prisoners with the basic necessities they need during the month of Ramadan.  You can help them to observe this month with ease, resulting in much more reward for you - see here for details on the Ramadan Prisoners Pack here in the UK.

Feed the Fasting

“And there are those amongst you who give food – in spite of their own need , to the needy, and the captive, and the orphans, in their hearts saying ’We only feed you for the sake of God, and we desire nothing in return from you, not even a word of thanks’’.

-          The Holy Qur’an  (76:8-9)

There is great emphasis on feeding others not just during the Holy month of Ramadan, but in everyday life, too. It can be easy to forget that there are far too many people around the world who are hungry, suffering from poverty and a lack of nourishment on a daily basis. Not only does Ramadan 2017 serve as a core reminder that during this month and the rest of the year, we should be helping those in need.

So, while we sit down to an entire feast laid before us upon breaking our fast, let’s not forget the many thousands who won’t have the same opportunities as ourselves. Your Ramadan donations this year can go a long way to helping those that need it most.

Gift the Happiness of Eid

Eid is a festival that many of us, especially children, look forward to all year round. Eid-ul-Fitr in particular, concludes the completion of Ramadan and is a time to rejoice and give thanks to Allah SWT for all He has given us. It is a day of offering prayers, gifts, charity and food.

Many of us take care to ensure our children have new clothes to wear during the celebration of Eid, but let us take a moment to remember that there are many out there that do not have the privilege or means to give their children anything at all on this blessed day.

If you would like to join us in offering someone the happiness of Eid, see here for more information.

To all our brothers and sisters, may Allah SWT accept all your duas in this auspicious, blessed month; Ramadan 2017 Kareem.

We are a faith-based British international charity that provides help to people who are victims of natural disasters or conflict or suffering from poverty, hunger, disease, homelessness, injustice, deprivation or lack of skills and economic opportunities.
